In a class this week a fellow student told the group about Strengths 2.0, a book and assessment to find your strengths. It appealed to me because of the positive approach and the way the fellow student talked about it. Ordered a copy, details will follow.

In the class “Developing tools” I came across the trainer Coach Nakumbe. He has a very practical way to look at things and gave on of the most interesting sessions so far. His style probably matches with me, because I’m a concrete do-er. When stuff is presented to me in an abstract form I have to do spend a lot of energy to stay on board.

And yesterday there was a gem of a class: “Creating Awareness” by the very nice Joanne Waldman. Turns out this is a topic where I feel like a fish in water. It matches my activities around Eckhart Tolle’s work and my workshop. Some people told me that my talking about it changed their paradigms about awareness. For me, awareness is not an intellectual thing. Real awareness arises when you stop thinking. Then you get into contact with your real self, with your real emotions as opposed to the emotions of the ego.

At the moment, most of the world population is assuming that it is the normal state to constantly think. The phrase “I think so therefore I am” is heard a lot, but it’s not true. Who you are has nothing to do with what you think. All thought structures are just thought structures and have nothing to do with identity. So in essence who we think we are is an illusion. Our real self is able to observe the thinking and mostly to just be. Without labeling, judging etc. So real awareness is about letting go of thought structures to get to your real self.

Bye,

Roland
